The cause of diabetes mellitus is metabolic in origin. However, its major clinical manifestations, which result in most of the morbidity and mortality, are a result of its vascular pathology.

The American Heart Association has recently stated that, “from the point of view of cardiovascular medicine, it may be appropriate to say, diabetes is a cardiovascular disease” .

But diabetic vascular disease is not limited to just the macrovasculature. Diabetes mellitus also affects the microcirculation with devastating results, including nephropathy, neuropathy, and retinopathy. Diabetic nephropathy is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease in the United States, while diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of new-onset blindness in working-age Americans.

The importance of this post on Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease is evident by the magnitude of the population affected by diabetes mellitus. The impact from a public health perspective is huge and increasing. As the population grows older, more sedentary, and obese, the risk of developing diabetes and its complications will increase.

Epidemiological studies have identified diabetes mellitus as a major independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Over 65% of patients with diabetes mellitus die from a cardiovascular cause. The prognosis of patients with diabetes mellitus who develop overt clinical cardiovascular disease is much worse than those cardiovascular patients free of diabetes mellitus.

It is emphasized that practicing physicians and the paramedical professionals as well as general public intellects must focus on either clinical or basic aspects of diabetes and cardiovascular disease in such a way that an awareness campaign can be started at a large scale from the preventive and therapeutic point of view. Awareness programs should encompass, depending upon the targeted audience, mechanisms and risk factors for diabetic cardiovascular disease, heart in diabetes mellitus, including coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure, the peripheral vascular system including epidemiology, mechanisms, methods of assessment, and treatment of this macrovascular disease . Lastly, the awareness campaigns must also cover the different microvascular effects in individuals with diabetes mellitus, including retinopathy (eye complications in diabetes mellitus), nephropathy (kidney complications in diabetes mellitus) , neuropathy (nervous system complications in diabetes mellitus) , and microcirculation of the diabetic foot.

Among the clinicians, campaign should include cardiologists, general internists, vascular specialists, family physicians, and medical students, along with other interested practitioners and allied health personnel, clinical and basic research scientists. Emphasis should be given to both theoretical and practical aspects.

Fasting is a very familiar practice for all of us generally. But sometimes it varies from the perspective of its main objective as some people fast due to religious purposes, some due to diet or attaining spiritual peace. It also differs from religion to religion like Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism. Its duration and phases fluctuates too. But the common point is that offers a lot of health benefits.

To begin with, it brings harmony, inner peace, and raises our awareness and these characteristics play a major function in stabilizing our mental health and fitness. It provides us with the opportunity to come up for air from our every day lifestyle and confers a possibility for our body to take a pause and gives break to its different organs. Fasting helps out for the accomplishment of abdominal fitness. As it purifies our body from the excessive and contaminated stuff, relaxes digestive tract, filters our intestines, and lightens the stomach by clearing fats. Additionally, it removes toxins from our body and consequently results as detoxification. During fasting as our body is not allowed for the intake of food so it utilizes the fats reserved in our body. These fats are initially the extra carbohydrates and glucose not consumed by human body and then transferred into fats. So for the period of fasting when we draw on these fats for obtaining get-up-and-go ability, chemicals are released from the fatty acids within the internal mechanism. Subsequently, those chemicals are wiped out through different organs and end result is purification of our entire body.

It also possesses anti-cancer perspective as recent research supports this fact that fasting makes the cancer treatment more bearable. The healing tendency is increased and victims put up with chemotherapies in a healthier way. Moreover in the absence of intake of food our body does not give any chance to tumor growth. Fasting also enhances immune system, because, during fast when one is not ingesting food then energy turns away on the way to immune system and metabolism instead of digestive system. It leads to improved protein development and growth hormones. It is also discovered that an anti-aging hormone production is also observed during the period of fasting. Fasting results in the immunoglobulin intensification that leads to the strengthening of immune system.

Fasting covers very promising ways in order to get rid of drugs like heroine, alcohol, nicotine etc. furthermore, it enhances sensory awareness, normalizes blood pressure, re-establishes cell oxygenation, develops insulin sensitivity, and stabilizes nervous system. So we can analyze that it offers huge benefits, this verity is very clearly stated in a Hadith “Fast and be healthy.” (Ibn As-Sunni and Abu Nu΄aym, and As-Suyuti graded it as Hasan.)

But one has to keep in mind that fast does not mean cutting our diet to an extreme. In the same way while breaking our fast, avoid from overeating and initially prefer fruit and vegetables. Certain limitations are there, when one is suffering from severe disease or his/her health conditions are not very compatible then he/she can skip it as clearly stated in the Holy Quran “(Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will, it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew.” (2:184). So fasting really helps us in bringing serenity to our lives and accomplishing peaceful health.

Exploring the benefits of ginger has been motivated by my previous articles comprising the role of natural blessings in cancer treatment. Ginger is an excellent blessing of nature for the mankind in curing many diseases. It can help in the treatment of many ailments from colds to cancer. Among its many effects it has beneficial effects on almost all the organs of the body. It is also used as a spice to add flavor and aroma to many Asian cuisines. Herbalists have admired it a lot since ancient era for its healing properties. It is also an excellent antioxidant due to one of its ingredient chemicals known as gingerol, which is an intense inhibitor of nitric oxide synthesis. It also helps in digestion by neutralizing the effects of gastric acids which may be responsible for nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. Interestingly, pregnancy induced nausea and vomiting can be alleviated by taking 1 gm of ginger for short period of time (not more than 4 days). It possesses numerous nutrients like carbohydrate, dietary fiber, protein, vitamin B6, and folate. It also contains minerals like magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and manganese.

Among many other important and beneficial effects, it also significantly reduces the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein (LDL), and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and prevents the blood clotting by inhibiting the atherosclerosis . Anti-cancerous features can be attributed to the polyphenols, which also retard the growth of helico-bectar pylori, a causative agent in developing gastric, colon and ovarian cancer.

It is a superb anti-inflammatory herb, ginger suppresses the formation of prostaglandins which are known to cause the inflammation in blood vessels of brain leading to migraine. Moreover, it is also used to treat arthritis and osteoarthritis by hindering the chemokin (an inflammatory protein).

Ginger is especially valuable in curing menstrual cramps and reducing the diabetic nephropathy. It is also used for the prevention of cataracts, stroke, angina, colds, flu, cough, fever and kidney stones.

Honey, the magnificent golden sticky stuff is naturally produced by the honey bees. Interestingly, honey formation commences with the feast of bees from flowers nectar. Charisma of a special enzyme in their saliva makes it feasible to transfer that feast into honey through a chemical process. Honey is carried by bees in hives at the back and stored into the cells of hives walls. Continuous fluttering of the wings keeps the honey freshen, and decreases the moisture content which is then good enough for consumption. Moreover, honey is a popular ingredient of different recipes like juices, beverages, and different desserts.
Biochemically, its composition consists of different forms of sugars especially fructose which is considered as the most assimilated carbohydrate. It supplies plenty of minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, sulphur, iron and phosphate. Besides all, honey also contains vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6 which fluctuates in accordance with the quality of pollen and nectar. As an exceptional source of phytochemicals it offers different phtyoneutrients, and these substances include caffeic acid, methyl caffeate, and phenylethyl dimethyl caffate. Modern research confirms that all these substances possess anti-cancer and anti-tumor properties. Being a restrain to invert sugar it aids in boosting up the energy by maintaining the blood sugar level and insulin sensitivity. Further, it supplies sustainable liveliness during exercise and lessens exhaustion. Honey squeezes the capability of weight diminution when consumed with hot water, by burning the accumulated fats in our body. Honey has been used as an antiseptic and antimicrobial since ancient times too.
Honey fitness merits are incredible and resist against many ailments such as yeast infection, athlete’s foot and arthritis. Honey in its unprocessed form significantly shrinks rise in blood sugar comparatively with dextrose and sucrose that’s why it is a captivating food for type-2 diabetes. In addition, one of its astonishing features is to hinder the formation of cholesterol in arteries which protects the patient from the possibility of heart attack, and also results in the reinforcement of heart beats. Due to presence of high acid content it is digestible easily by individuals having sensitive stomach. Even chronic arthritis can be cured by taking 1cup of hot water with 2 teaspoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder.
It contains an anti-oxidant named “nutraceuticals” which facilitates in removing free radicals and triggers the body’s immunity. Honey is also awfully valuable against different gastrointestinal disorders like diarrhea, vomiting, flatulence, and irritable bowel syndrome and stomach ulcers. Moreover, it proves an excellent cough suppressant in children lying between age group of 2-18 than any other cough medicines. So honey acts as a wonderful source of capturing potency!

Black tea, is entitled to attention because of having striking effects on health. It is the second most common beverage being consumed in the world after water. It is made from the leaves of plant “ Camellia Sinensis”. The tea’s darker color or enthusiastic flavor depends on the process of dryness and fermentation of leaves. Black tea is mainly more intense in flavor and restrain more caffeine than other less oxidized teas. Black tea has ten times more amounts of antioxidants then vegetables and fruits. The antioxidants includes quercetin and flavonoids having huge implications on health. Quercetin is very competent against inflammation which encourages the healthy immune system.

Black tea is not only a refreshing beverage but also a strong weapon in the battle of heart disease and second heart attack. The protective quality of tea is due the group of antioxidants flavonoids present in it. The wonder nutrient flavanoids includes epicatechins, thearubigins and catechins. It is aften clear that flavonoids can hinder the oxidation of bad cholesterol and triggers the production of good cholesterol which otherwise prone towards atherosclerosis. It also improves the endothelial function of cardiac patients by allowing the blood to flow through blood vessels more rejuvenately which ultimately lowers the blood pressure. Moreover, being a low acidic beverage it also suppress the growth of bacteria in mouth which aids in developing cavities. It provides 70% of everyday suggested amount of fluoride.

Being a effective tonic, black tea is very protective against aging of brain. It inhibits the production of beta-amyloid a toxic protein which is a causative agent of Alzheimer’s disease that blocks the brain’s vessels. It is also very beneficial for lowering prevalence of diabetes by slowing down the absorption of blood sugar.

Moreover, Black tea consumption can significantly lower the incidence of stomach, prostate and breast cancer. The chemical TF-2 present in black tea expels the cancer cells while no harm to normal cells. Tea is not only rehydrating the body but also contains disease fighting compounds which helps in boost up weight lose, protect bones, helps in false breathing, refreshes the skin by blocking the allergy response and protects against Parkinson’s disease.

A word of caution: in spite of having its beneficial effects it also have some drawbacks as it may interfere with the absorption of non-hem iron on account of one of its constituents known as tannins, which chelates with non-hem iron and make them unavailable for absorption.

Olive oil is a precious gift of nature comprising of mind-boggling and incomparable potential. One can not even imagine how valuable it is, and about its magnificent healing power. It has been appreciated since ancient era and admired for its numerous curing characteristics. Olive oil encompasses of enormous nutritional value, it offers vitamins A, B1, B2, E, D, K, iron, triterpenes, polyphenols, oleocanthol and lot of others in addition to them.

It plays a brilliant role for fighting against heart diseases. It shrinks the bad cholesterol oxidation, and as olive oil has anti-oxidant properties it controls atherosclerosis too. Its anti-oxidant ability is attributed due to the charisma of phenolic compounds. Modern research also shows that intake of vitamin E facilitates in fighting against heart diseases and 1 table spoon of olive oil gives 8% of the suggested every day portion for vitamin E. It also obstructs the growth of blood clots which are the cause of blockage in the coronary arteries. Olive oil provides favorable consequences for high blood pressure, and due to the occurrence of phenolic compounds it has also the potential of anti-hypertensive action.

Olive oil covers the anti-carcinogenic properties as well. It is very preventive in opposition to colon cancer; it has been gifted with polyphenolic compounds, flavonoid, and squalene so it could exhibit chemo protective results against colon cancer. Olive oil consists of monounsaturated fats in a proportion of 77%, 9% polyunsaturated fatty acids and vegetable mucilage as well. Due to this capacity there is low tendency of creation of free radicals which harms the cell membranes and develops into a reason of Cancer occurrence. Olive oil also lower the bowel tissue concentration of arachidonate, a substance that allows the development of cancer. as confirmed by recent studies. Additionally as various other fats do, it does not uphold secretion of bile acids. Other than that, olive oil renders remedial properties against breast cancer in addition. The credit is given to the occurrence of Oleic acid, as it provokes apoptosis in breast cancer cells, diminishes the intensity of a gene called Her-2/neu which activates breast cancer. It has also been observed that it leads to the enhanced usefulness of the drug trastuzumab applied to treat many women patients suffering from this disease. Moreover, olive oil is regarded beneficial for battling against ovarian cancer and bowel cancer.
It has been explored that olive oil has curing effects for stomach. Our stomach accepts it at ease, greases mucous membranes, reduces flatulence, avoids the development of gallstones, improves metabolism, alleviates heartburn, mitigates disturbed stomach, and have curative effect on ulcers. Olive oil is blessed with advantageous results for skin as well. It is very helpful for treating dry skin, enlarged marks, adds to skin smoothness and makes it supple, due to vitamin E it acts as anti-aging agent. When warm olive oil is applied to the skin it facilitates in reducing inner or outer inflammination due to an injury or disease.

So we can notice that olive oil is gifted with countless and remarkable healing capacity and it has been bestowed with magical remedial potential in the true sense.

In the current scenario we are living in a modern and sophisticated environment, where we have brought so many changes in the way of our living. So do we have in our way of intake of food, the way we eat and drink is not the same as it was several years ago. For enhancing business volume and achieving profitable sale, advance farming techniques, including the use of pesticides, fertilizers are getting very common now a days.

But the bitter reality is these practices are opted at the cost of our own health as due to such practices our food has been ended as electrolyte affluent, far less healthy, and with reduced amount of mineral. Other than food the atmosphere is so much exposed to destructive toxins and metals. In order to have appropriate fitness, we require encompassing heavy metals but in a form that our body can make use of. So the issue is how to chuck out this hurdle. Auspiciously, the earth itself has given us with two exceptionally heady associates Humic and Fulvic acids. Humic Acid and Fulvic Acid work collectively to eliminate superfluous salt acids that enclose & harden cell walls, constructing cell permeability. Humic acid has the capacity to break down the salt acids that upsurge on the cell membrane, and fulvic acid has the ability to transfer nutrients into the cell and swill out toxins away of the cell. Due to such potential once it gets in touch with the cell; Fulvic Ionic Minerals can together stabilize and boost cell life and biological properties. When individual cell is reinstate to its standard chemical permanence and electrical potential then it has established a new life, so in that case death and breakdown would take place normally. Including radiation and petroleum, both of them will break the unions of inert matter and alter them into organic matter and eliminate them out of the body.

Fulvic Acid is regarded as the main dominant type of Oral Chelation and illustrates an incredible ability for electrochemical stability. It offers a huge number of intrinsic worth; it stimulates wisdom of happiness and well being by nourishing every cell in the body. Humic substances consist of a significant feature that they can unite with oxides, metal ions, and clay minerals to form water soluble or insoluble complexes, and can intermingle with natural compounds such as fatty acids, alkenes, pesticides, and capillary active substances. It plays a major biological role in viruses, bacteria, fungi, and plants.

Fulvic Ionic minerals make food, herbs, and supplements bio-available so due to this ability it develops there effectiveness. They have the special gift as they can respond with both negatively and positively charged, unpaired electrons. As far as free radicals are concerned they can leave them harmless, or transform them into new useable compounds, or take them out of the body as waste. Fulvic acid has terrific benefits; it boosts mental clarity, increases immune system and also regulates it, potentiates the accessibility of necessary nutrients ,work as a catalyst for enzymatic effects, facilitates in balancing hormonal level, kills pathogens, reduces curing time considerably, oxygenates the blood, confiscates discoloration owing to skin marks, supports thyroid gland, enhances circulation, aids in slowing down aging progression.

But one should bear in mind that only fulvic acid cannot repair our body alone. We should support it by having healthy and balance diet, exercising in a balanced way, taking rest when one needs to have it. So crux of the whole discussion is that Fulvic is an elixir of life in a real sense and it is the demand of present era when there is an alarming need of detoxifying our body.

Zam Zam water is the finest water found in the entire earth as it also declared in a Hadith, Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “The best water on the face of the earth is the water of Zam Zam; it is a kind of food and a healing from sickness.” The traits it seizes are fully tremendous. The way it came into being was a wonder, it happened in the heart of the desert, its uniformity is a miracle as it has never dried up for thousands of years.

In recent times, scientists took different trials on its various samples and they were of the view that they have found specific specialties in it due to which this water is healthier such as, an elevated intensity of calcium which is 200 mg/liter. In a broader context, water is measured as mineral so if its rate lies from 150 to 350 mg/liter then its sales volume is expected to be greatest. Rate of minerals in Zam Zam water is 2000mg/liter. Calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium are noteworthy minerals comprised by this extraordinary water. Current advanced scientific studies have also illustrated that intake of mineral water like Zam Zam eases heart rate and artery diseases so it supports the above mentioned aspect of Hadith that “a healing from sickness”.
Ibn ‘Abbaas(R.A) said: “The people of Makkah used to be the fastest when it comes to sprinting, and the most powerful when it comes to wrestling, but as soon as they stopped drinking Zam Zam water, they started to suffer from a disease in their legs.” It is also observed diabetic pilgrims who drink Zam Zam regularly during Hajj did not need Insulin during Hajj, and sugar was diminished from their urine and blood too. Same piece of information was viewed for blood pressure patients as there was no need of medicine for them. Its intake is also beneficial for coping with stomach disorders like it helps in reducing acidity of stomach and also facilitates in coping with the problem of anorexia. The rate of oxygen in it is half of the rate which WHO has declared as standard rate for having healthier life. The presence of Iron, magnesium, sulphur, sodium oxide, aids in coping with anemia, sharpens the mind, and improves metabolism.

If water holds 250 grams of bi-carbonates per liter then it is regarded as mineral and digestive water, and water of the spring of Ivian (France), in which the rate of bi-Carbonates is 357 mgs/liter is most well-known mineral water in the world is that of, but rate of bi-Carbonates is 366 mgs/liter in Zam Zam water so it is truly said in the Hadith that “Zam Zam water is (proper) for whatever (purpose) it is drunk for.”
One can say without any doubt that there is no limit to its benefits compared with other respective forms of water found on this Earth!

It has got its powerful ability to quench thirst and fill stomachs remained. The Prophet said: “The best water on the face of the earth is the water of Zamzam; it is a kind of food and a healing from sickness.”

Recently a study presented at American Diabetes Association 71st Scientific Sessions by Anastassios G. Pittas, MD, (Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts). This highlights the fact that vitamin D might play a role in diabetes by improving insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity. That is, Higher Vitamin D Levels Linked to Lower Diabetes Risk.

According to Dr. Pittas, “this study offers several methodological advantages over previous studies.” Vitamin D status was assessed multiple times during follow-up, not just once at baseline, which might not reflect long-term vitamin D status. This research included a large clinically relevant population at high risk for diabetes. However, it is still premature to recommend vitamin D specifically for prevention of diabetes.”

Unfortunately, so far the research is very limited in this context and more work is needed and it may be that someday wrist circumference correlation be used to predict insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease risk.
Though measuring body fat is usually a reliable predictor of insulin resistance and heart disease risk in adults, this is not always the case for kids because their bodies grow and change so rapidly during puberty. Usually doctors measure a teen’s BMI (body mass index) by comparing height and weight, which may be a misleading gauge, however, especially for athletes who may have a high percentage of muscle, which weighs more than fat.

In the study, researchers analyzed how wrist size and BMI correlated with levels of insulin resistance. While BMI only accounted for 1 percent of variation in insulin resistance, the wrist measurement accounted for between 12 and 17 percent.
